Happy Monday Loves! Hope you all had a restful & relaxing weekend. My sister introduced me to this polish from O.P.I. called "Over The Taupe" a few years ago & since then I was obsessed!! I usually pull out this polish during the Fall season because it just makes me feel nice & cozy. Let's take a look below!
Over The Taupe is a warm, milk chocolate, taupe creme polish (love!).
It applied beautifully, even though the formula is on the runnier side. 2 coats got it to full opacity!
Pair O.P.I.'s Over The Taupe polish with a warm cozy sweater & you are all set for Fall! I hope you have a wonderful week ahead & thank you so much for reading!
Happy Monday Loves! It has definitely been awhile since I last did a Mani Monday post (due to the big move I recently did). I wanted to get back into it with a gorgeous Fall polish from Sonia Kashuk called "Wicked Attraction". Let's check it out below!
Wicked Attraction is a gorgeous deep, rich, vampy red/burgundy shade. Definitely a great name for it & what makes it so "wicked" is that this polish does have a hint of black in it as well.
You guys know I LOVE Sonia Kashuk's polishes & this polish applied smoothly and got opaque with 2 coats. The finish is shiny but I applied a coat of my out the door top coat as well!
Sonia Kashuk's Wicked Attraction leaves my nails with a bold look for Fall. To attract even more wickedness ^___~, pair this polish with a vampy lip & you are all set for a Fall look!
Thank you so much for reading & hope you have a wonderful week!!
Hi Loves! You guys all probably know by now that I am OBSESSED with mascaras. I was quite intrigued when I saw the "broken heart brush" on this mascara so I had to try & review it for you all!
I purchased mine for $4.99 CAD at Superstore.
The bottom half of the mascara tube has a very unique snakeskin texture feel & is quite chunky. Definitely gives it that rocker-cool factor!
The brush is a broken heart or "s-shape" type & it has hard bristles w/ a bendy metal center (if you wanted to twist the shape a bit). The formula is in between a wet & dry.
When I first tried this mascara, I really had to get use to the shape of it. Shortly after using it a few times, I quickly discovered the best way to use it. Basically, if you want a non-clumpy finish than use the almond side of the brush against your eyes. I find that it fits perfectly to your eye shape much better than using the other side.
So what do I think of this mascara?? It was a pretty average, okay one! Yes, the pointed tip made it easier to apply to the inner corners of the eyes & hard to reach lashes. It did provide a good amount of volume but not something for me to get excited about. Using it properly, my lashes separated nicely & no clumps. This mascara didn't give me any length to my lashes or hold my curl. However, it did not flake on me (did smudge a bit on lower lashes) & was a breeze to remove at the end of the day.
Overall, I don't think it's a mascara you need to run out & buy but if your interested in unique & new mascaras than go for it!
I hope this review was helpful to you. As always, thank you so much for reading!
Hi Loves! I hope you are having a wonderful day so far! Today's review is on NYX's Butter Lipstick & Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippie. Recently, Canada finally received most of NYX cosmetics new products & I always wanted to try these 2 lippies so let's see what I think below!
Swatches, 3 layers each.
Top: NYX Butter Lipstick in Candy Buttons
Bottom: NYX Chunky Dunk in Rum Punch
Purchased from London Drugs for $8.99 each.
I picked up "Candy Buttons" in the butter lipstick range because of it's cute candy pink-peach shade. The packaging of these lipsticks feel quite cheap in my opinion, light weight & made out of plastic. The lipstick package itself had a colorful outside, that matched the lipstick shade perfectly- love that! Also, the package is clear in the center so you can see the lipstick clearly.
NYX Butter Lipsticks retract up & down very smoothly. What I love most about these lippies is the angle of the top of the lipstick. As you can see, it isn't a straight diagonal line, it does have some curve to it. I find that it fits perfectly on the shape of my lips! Also, the point of the lipstick allows easy application on the outer corners of my lips.
This lipstick does have the slightest sweet scent to it but does not have any taste. When applied to the lips, it went on very patchy (not too sure if it is just this shade) & was not very pigmented with 1 swipe. If you want full opacity/pigmentation, I recommend you apply 2-3 layers. Like I mentioned earlier, it did apply quite patchy & it caught on my dry areas of my lips as well. The texture felt very lightweight on my lips but it felt almost greasy, like a slippery lip balm. It wore like a regular lipstick, about 2-3 hours & came right off when eating or drinking. After wiping it off with a napkin, there was no stains left on my lips. It did feel very hydrating & moisturizing on my lips throughout the day.
Next up, I picked up NYX's Chunky Dunk (cute name!) in "Rum Punch". It is a berry-wine shade & I thought it would be perfect for Fall! It seems like almost every single drugstore brand has a crayon type lippie & NYX is one of them! I still got excited when I saw these though hehe.
The plastic packaging is the color of the lippie inside & it comes with a clear cap. The crayon is retractable, so no sharpening is required.
There is no scent or smell to this lippie. When applied, it went on very smootly & evenly. Definitely sheer at first but builds to full opacity with 3 layers. It has a slight sheen/glossy finish to it. NYX's chunky dunk did leave my lips feeling moisturized but with the 3 layers, my lips immediately felt very heavy and uncomfortable. The texture did not feel light weight, it felt like something was on my lips- almost waxy. The lippie wore for about 2-3 hours, just a tad bit longer than the butter lipstick & left no stains on my lips.
Overall, I was quite disappointed with the NYX Butter Lipsticks & Chunky Dunk Hydrating Lippie. I definitely think the Butter Glosses & other NYX lipsticks (round lipsticks) are better quality. I probably won't be repurchasing these lippies.
I hope this review was helpful to you & let me know your experience with these lipsticks. Hope you have an amazing day and thank you so much for reading!
Happy Monday Darlings! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Today's Mani Monday is NYX's "Surf". Let's check it out below!!
Surf is a light minty-turquoise shade with subtle micro gold & turquoise shimmers to it.
The brush was thin & wide, which I didn't mind because it made painting my nails very quick. The only thing I noticed was that the polish pooled a bit at the cuticles but I manged to get my nail bed evened out.
I applied 2 coats to get it to full opacity. The shimmers in the polish is not too noticeable on my nails but if you look super close you can see it.
The formula of this polish was on the watery side, so definitely have a light & careful hand when applying.
NYX's Surf is a beautiful polish with a glossy finish as well! You could probably get away with no top coat but I applied my out the door top coat anyway! Definitely gives my nails a punch of color (if mint & turquoise made a baby, this would be the shade) that is perfect for Summer!
Thank you so much for reading & wishing you a great week ahead!
