Foodie Friday: Bakery Sate

Happy Friday! For today's Foodie Friday we are headed to a local bakery/cafe in East Vancouver called "Bakery Sate". Let's check it out below!

I love how bright & clean everything looks like inside!

Cute, vintage, random decor on the wall.

If you guys don't know this by now, I am a matcha/green tea addict! I had to try Bakery Sate's "Matcha Black Sesame Cake". At first, I thought the sesame flavour was going to over power the matcha taste. When I had a bite of this gorgeous cake, it was the perfect balance between both flavours. The matcha taste was not bitter at all because it did have white chocolate in it as well, yum!!

I had to get yet another matcha sweet, this one is their "Matcha Azuki Puff". I love the crunchy sweet/salty topping of this cream puff. Inside was the most delicious creamy matcha filling with red bean as well!

I want one of each please!! ^___^ Beautiful display case full of different cakes, sweets, desserts & sandwiches.

Simple wooden tables & a window so you can take a peek at the pastry chefs working their magic! That man in the window is Head Pastry Chef, Eric Ho.

Bakery Sate is such a cute & cozy cafe to have a coffee date, catch up with friends or even dessert dates! Thank you so much for reading & hope you have a awesome weekend!!

Love, Linda

Foodie Friday: Icy Bar

HAPPY FRIDAY FRIENDS! In today's Foodie Friday post, we are headed for some Asian desserts at "Icy Bar". Let's go!!

It was super hot this evening so hubby & I wanted something to cool us down after dinner. We headed to Icy Bar on Kingsway in Vancouver. Never been before so we were excited! Inside, was very spacious & bright. The decor was minimal but inviting. They had colorful lights hanging & also big bunches of sticks to separate the entrance from the dining area.

Hubby ordered the red bean crystal tapioca cake. I had a bite of it and was pretty good, had a good amount of red bean in it & the cake was not too soft or hard. Simple presentation on a long rectangular plate.

I ordered red bean, green tea mochi icy! This was definitely stuffed to the top. It came with a side of condensed milk so you can pour as much as you desire on top of your icy. Inside the bowl had of course shaved ice (not flavoured), matcha mochi, red bean mochi, red bean & vanilla ice cream. Once I drizzled some condense milk on top of the icy plate it had more flavour to it, was defnitely very refreshing on a hot Summer evening. My only complaint was the mochi. It wasn't fully cooked because it was still chewy and hard, & not the good chewy a mochi has. Otherwise the matcha & red bean flavour of the mochi was delish!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend & thank you so much for reading and joining me on this Foodie Friday post!

Foodie Friday: Strike

Happy Friday Loves! Today's Foodie Friday is on a restaurant called Strike in Richmond BC. The reason why I wanted to visit this place was because 1, I LOVE GREEN TEA/MATCHA anything as you all know & 2, I've seen so many people instagram pics of these unique plant-like desserts that I made it a priority to check this place out!

The decor was quite simple inside, nothing too extravagant. On the walls were pictures of street food, chefs, etc. was quite eye catching once your eyes landed on it!

How CUTE are these?? So first off let me warn you guys! These desserts are no where to be found on their menu, you just ask for "plant pudding" & it only comes in 2 flavors- matcha ($4.25) & original ($3.95).

It really does look like a plant hehe.

The original pudding was garnished with mint & strawberries and had a topping of crushed up cheerios that tasted like chocolate w/ a slight coffee scent.

Matcha pudding was garnished with mint & red bean and had crushed up cheerios (?) that had a light taste so that it would not mask the matcha pudding flavor. Each pudding had a layer of cream under the crumbs & pudding at the very bottom! It wasn't a overly sweet dessert, was just right!!

If you are looking for a fun, different or even a conversation starter then definitely go to Strike & try these super adorable plant pudding desserts. PS: They also serve Taiwanese food as well!!

Thank you so much for reading & wishing you a wonderful weekend full of laughs, fun, relaxation & of course indulgence of desserts!!

Love, Linda

This Weekend Buys!

Hi Darlings! Hope you had a wonderful weekend so far. I thought it would be fun to share with you all what I had picked up this weekend!

So I went to Walmart & they were having a friggin awesome sale on their Crest products. I got a box of whitestrips (need to whiten my teeth, they are starting to look a bit yellow esp. when I wear lipstick-not cute!) which were HALF OFF!! Also, got the Crest 3D white luxe toothpaste, love this stuff because it whitens my teeth a lot faster than the original Crest whitening toothpaste.

I was also running low on my L'oreal micellar solution (removes my make up amazingly at the end of the night) so I picked that up as well. Okay.... I am a total sucker when it comes to people instagramming or tweeting pics of products & recently a bunch of pics of the Nivea lip butter in rasperry rose kept popping up. I was super intrigued & I made a mental note in my head that I HAD to buy it since everyone was raving about it. Super excited to try it and the packaging is so adorbs.!

Last (but certainly not least) in the beauty department I got the Essence get big lashes volume boost waterproof mascara (again, suckered in from online pics >__<). Not that I needed another tube of mascara (hello, my name is Linda & I am a mascara addict) but the girl who took a before & after picture of her lashes sold me! Her lashes went from non existence to HELLO!!

Definitely need some dessert for a relaxing weekend & I wanted to share with you all my ALL TIME FAVE Green Tea ice cream. I bought this at T&T Supermarket. If you guys want to taste a creamy, just enough sweetness & matcha/green tea flavor ice cream than you must try this! I've gotten a few friends & family members hooked on this tub of goodness!!

Did you do any shopping this weekend??

Thank you so much for reading! Mmuah.

Foodie Friday: Basho Cafe

The moment you enter Basho Cafe, you get such a warm, inviting & happy feeling inside! This place is operated by the sweetest Japanese family & you can definitely feel the love that they have for their cafe by the food & welcoming atmosphere of it. I adore everything about this place- the big bright windows, cute knitted details, wooden accents, & pops of happy colors!

Cutest display case full of their baked goodies, mostly matcha/green tea sweets & you guys all know how obsessed I am so this place is truly heaven for me!

Green Tea Mochi & Milk Mochi W/ Red Bean

I got the afternoon set which comes with a matcha latte & 3 different types of sweets: Kabocha Muffin (top on tray), Sesame Cocoa Cookie (right) & Matcha White Chocolate Cookie (bottom). The sweets were all very petite & cute- a 2 biter size! ^___^

How gorgeous is the art in the latte?! I didn't even want to drink it- but I did & it was delightful! Think milky, rich matcha taste- not too sweet & not too bitter.

Honestly, there is nothing like Basho in Vancouver & it is truly a gem in the city! If you are a green tea/matcha lover like I am, you must check this place out- it'll make you so frigging happy!!

Have an amazing weekend!
